Small Groups

Today was our first church small group that included our kids. When our small group began over 4 years ago most of us were dating/engaged/newly married couples. Through the last few years that has changed to all of us being married and now having kids. "Babies" (those under 1 year) have been generally accepted into our group, but once they have gotten older the other parents have gotten child care and not brought their kids with them. Nate and I made a decision that spending time with Hannah was more important to us than attending small group. We were going to find a way to politely remove ourselves from the group. Well, a few weeks ago we ran into one of the leaders of our small group. She came out and asked us what our feelings towards our continuation in the group were. After a few tears and complete honesty on our part she brought the idea of including the kids into our small group time. It was unanimously accepted that our children should be a part of the small group time. What a joy today was not worrying about Hannah being there when the other children were absent. It was wonderful to see them all playing together and everyone being a "family" together. Another couple even announced that they are expecting a child! How wonderful to be able to see these children grow physically as we grow spiritually. I think this will work for everyone! :)
